Bags are packed once again and we are using our last 12 minutes before we have to check out to blog.

Since we last blogged we have: been to the cinema again (aren't we just so cultural?) to see The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which is very odd (very Gilliam). We've been to Hong Kong Wetland Park which is very peaceful (apart from the school field trips), Kowloon park, which is great. It has an awesome swimming pool section outdoors, with fake beaches etc. Sadly it is closed until March - Boo! Jane spent quite a while taking pictures of roses (amd sniffing them) in the rose garden.

Yesterday we went to Ocean Park, which is very cool. We saw giant pandas - REAL ONES!!! It was an awesome day; giant pandas, red pandas, otters, fairground rides (Jane was brave and rode the mine train and the ferris wheel), a sea lion show, we fed sea lions and also watched an amazing dolphin show - they really are incredible creatures. A very very good day.

Last night we went to see the Symphony of Lights show at the Harbour again after dinner. It is mental that they do that every night! People often complain about the amount of light pollution that London creates - they should see Hong Kong. London does not hold a candle (pun intended) to Hong Kong. When Jane and I turn the lights off at night, you can't really notice a difference, it is light outside all night. The sky is always an illuminated grey/yellow!

It has been nice to stop in one city for a while as tourists. Nathan Road (where we've been staying) is a bit mental. People offering copy watches and handbags or a tailor's shop everywhere, and they won't leave you alone either - mostly we just ignore them but sometimes they chase you through the crowds! Public transport here is great, efficient and cheap, very impressed. Yesterday we took the train during rush hour and the platforms were packed but the trains come every 30 seconds so it's never a problem - incredible. You are not allowed to eat or drink once you get through the barrier so the platforms and trains are all spotless too.

Also, we went across to Hong Kong Island this morning to go to Artland. We bought Jane a load of sketching stuff; she is feeling the urge to sketch while we're away.

But now it's off to a new country and a new city. We are just off now to have a quick lunch in Murphy's, and then we're are going to Hung Hom station to catch the (19 hour) 15:00 train to Shanghai, where we have two nights booked in a Hostel called Blue Mountain. We have no idea what the internet service is going to be like in China, but we'll see. Keep your comments coming, (we really enjoy reading them) it's nice to know that you are all out there!

Next blog from China during Chinese New Year - how cool is THAT?!!

Hope you are all well,

Simon and Jane
