View Article  Don't you know we're riding on the Marrakech Express...?
Hello all,

Just a quick one to say hello all; we arrived late yesterday afternoon in Marrakech and after an interesting journey from the airport to our riad via some scooters with sheep sitting upright on them, we wandered out to explore the souks and the main square, Jemaa El Fna, where we had dinner on the roof terrace at Chez Chegrouni - a tagine for Simon and couscous for Jane. A lovely meal but in hindsight we should have shared a meal as we weren't too hungry after the early start we'd had. The freshly squeezed orange juice and the banana juice (several bananas put through a blender) were yummy.

We were woken this morning at 5am by the call to prayer from the minaret but by about 6am all was quiet again and we went back to sleep, then up for a leisurely breakfast of pancakes and mint tea. Some new arrivals from Spain this morning means our riad is now slightly less deserted but the few staff we have spotted seem very friendly.

We're off now for a stroll through the park and then into the main square for a bite to eat, then a lazy afternoon as we're still both shattered - think it's going to take us a little while to completely chill out...

Another thing we've discovered is that over here the keys are all in a different place on the keyboard - until we get used to that it'll take a while to type anything!

Hope you're all well,

Simon and Jane xx
